The Story Behind Our Success
The story of Jamia Hamdard is rooted in a vision of education as a powerful instrument for social transformation. Founded on the ideals of Late Janab Hakeem Abdul Hameed Sahib, Jamia Hamdard grew from a commitment to education, healthcare, research and service to society. The institution was granted the status of a Deemed to be University in 1989.
Carrying this legacy forward, Jamia Hamdard Kannur Campus was established as the first constituent unit of Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi, with the formal inauguration held on 1 November 2013. The campus was the dream project of Late Shri E. Ahamed Sahib, former Union Minister and a proud son of Kannur. His vision was to make quality higher education accessible to the young people of North Malabar and contribute to the educational and social advancement of the region.
Located in the heart of Kannur, the campus has grown into a vibrant centre of learning, bringing together students from diverse backgrounds. From its early years, the campus has encouraged not only academic excellence but also innovation, leadership, creativity, social responsibility and holistic development.
Over the years, Hamdard Kannur has created opportunities through academic programmes, student clubs, cultural activities, social initiatives, career guidance and placement support. Its students have progressed to higher studies and professional careers in India and abroad, carrying the spirit of Hamdard with them.
